The saying ' three times is the charm "is certainly true for the Dutchman Tom Holkenborg. After few successful attempts with Weekend At Waikiki and Nerve he experienced in 1997 his big break as the mastermind behind Junkie XL. Helped by rapper Rude Boy (Urban Dance Squad) Holkenberg formed the Dutch answer to successful English ' bigbeat ' acts like The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim. In the summer of 2002 he only really became world famous for his remix of the Elvis hit A Little Less Conversation, which he had made for a Nike commercial during the World Cup. Oddly enough is missing A Little Less Conversation on the third Junkie XL album Radio JXL. This title is otherwise very well chosen: the cd is from beginning to end as a radio broadcast, complete with announcements and jingles. Also this time Hamdan assisted by a number of special guest vocalists. So he arouses-after Elvis-again a dead to life in the summer hit sung by Peter Tosh-in-to-be Don't Wake Up Policeman. Other successful contributions are, among other things, by our own Anouk, Solomon Burke, Gary Numan, Robert Smith (The Cure), Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), rapper Chuck D (Public Enemy) and singer Saffron (ex-Republica). Together they create Radio JXL an excellent and very accessible cd, which again proves that Junkie XL to the top of the international dance world.
