Just bought this version from Rough Trade in Nottingham. It'll be my 3rd attempt at getting a decent copy of this record. haven't got it home yet to have a listen but i fore-warned the guy on the till that I might be back to have a refund as it's quite likely to sound like shit. These reviews aren't filling me with confidence. I'd have thought Rough Trade would have done a bit of research before buying shitty represses...Why does so much golden era hip hop have such shoddy re-pressing. Took me years to get a decent Illmatic, 36 chambers and the infamous.

Gardagar
A low mix combined with loud surface noise already is not a good thing. Add onto that a thin and scratchy overall sound, and you've got a pretty subpar release. Even when I tortured my records with a Crosley, I was a bit surprised by the quality of this press in comparison to the 2 LP release of The Low End Theory.

Timberahue
I seem to be the only one really happy with this pressing, it's sounds great andI have no problems with volume, volume changes, pops, etc. This pressing seems to vary a lot.

Gigafish
I see a lot of negative reviews of this pressing but the only real complaint I have with this pressing is the volume. There is indeed surface noise on the LP however it's also present on the CD. The surface noise is from the samples used, not because of the pressing.

Jelar
I recommend avoiding this as well. Volume on mine changes on a couple of tracks. Some loud cracks.

Clever
Got pretty lucky with my 2016 sourced copy, it is indeed cut at low volume and super flat mastering however I don't have any surface noise issues. I'm usually the first to cry foul on these kinds of things too, knock on wood.

Wrathmaster
This pressing is pretty shit. Low volume, lots of loud pops. Avoid if you can.

Hidden Winter
Had two copies of this from Amazon... Both have significant edge warp... Has some noise distortion throughout.. Not a great pressing..

Unde
I just got this copy from amazon and was wondering if it was a bootleg. The barcode & matix/ runout numbers match the above. The label does look cheap and the sound quality is horrible, it's very quiet and not well rounded/ mixed. Should've known better than to get my hip hop from Amazon...

SING
I've been wondering if maybe this - or at least the version I have - is actually bootleg. The labels look legit but the print on the sleeve is blurry as hell. Including the barcode. Can anybody confirm that this is the case for their version as well? This has been bothering me for a while now and I thought maybe someone here can shed some light on this.(PS: I have either this or http://www.discogs.com/A-Tribe-Called-Quest-Midnight-Marauders/release/2926537, hard to tell: info for both entires looks exactly the same to me.)
