Kit
This EP takes three tracks from Andreas Kauffelt's album "Die Akustische Labyrinth". Bassquake is just that - thumping, with a potent bass line. Not really fast paced, it residers in the 130BPM range, but it is really driving. Groovy, with slamming percussion, and a really great break around the three minute mark where this really distorted lead comes in. Four minutes onwards the track really comes to its fullest expression, with the erratic sequence going on a rampage over crisp and banging drum kicks, and after a while a high pitched siren is thrown in the mix as well. A great tune, especially for the club. Spektral is more on the minimal side of things with a dubby feel. An awesome, ticking percussion arrangement, with a very cool 'click clack' effect throughout the background, one of those "cricket" sounds and a great resounding sequence throughout. It does get a little repetitive, but it's done in such a delightfully juicy way, you just won't stop grooving along. One of those tracks which never really get anywhere, but have this hypnotic sound, which, depite being pretty simple and minimal, is highly addictive. The production is great, though!Tunneleffekt goes in the direction of more deep and introspective techno. Really mellow and laid back, minimal and soft percussion with a great hook until the break at 03:20. Then, a really nice melody comes in, making the track drift off in the warmest corners of the techno spectrum. A perfect tune to play in your headphones and just sink deep in your sofa. A tune worth owning just so you can play it for your friends at around 11 o'clock in the morning during an after party while you all are chilling in somebody's living room... Overall, this is very good EP, with three completely different, yet equally good tracks. Each one displays a separate, different kind of techno, from hard and banging, to hypnotic and driving, right back to gentle and moving. Comes highly recommended from me. Three great tracks, and each one can be played during the appropriate occasion. It's not a classic release, but just like many other of Kauffelt's productions, it's very refined and just quality techno. Do you really need more?
