PILOT?POISON RETROSPECTIVE
the vivid , on going pulse behind many of my more intense collegate moments ,more often than not contained a heavy dose of the early auto pilot discs- always annoymous & running together - colors in a window melting to say my opinion is bias misses the point- & to say that its humble is bullshit-it is a very confident-cocky posture I take when speaking of what sweats from the four track in the basement at 4am, & it will always dig deeper in the flesh than most anything autoPILOT prooves it is not a matter of the path you choose- but the one you carve, this is what makes the man- & nothing less is tolerated. It is the texture, the essential core creation of these songs that explode w. ferocity- & at moments, damn near terror; whether it be a drunken rage or a lonely hanging of feedback THE STRAIN has always defined what i have come to understand the autopilot and poison generate to be

hand-crafted w no bullshit, ni pretense- alittle sexy slipped in here &there, but that's the real deal jack, cause this guy knows his Joan Baez no doubt

formation&disintegration:both can take on an oddly similar nature/texture- cracked lines running after one another in a continual shuffle of opposing forces; so said, autopilot and the poison g.

there isparticular comfort taken when recorded music, created amidst such turmoil- is captured and tamed in such a beautifully developed way as dr.kesterson manages via these two ongoing endeavors.

that Eternal straining for a closer look at the essential core, which can, at any moment- explode upon itself- a self-destructive fury-to have all these forces somehow wound up in the fuzzing swell of mashed instrumentation -growling out the latest Vision-there is, no doubt, a diliberately linear element superceeding the seeming chaos which the poison/pilot combo can spin itself into-but let there be no mistake, the "light" guides this puzzle at each turn- &theannoymous artist hides barely beneath the knobs

the HUM never fades completely, layers upon layers &yet there is an intimacy to be found in these hymns- from the early indulgent tracks , to the more recently traditional sketches these are songs wrung from thehands of a man who knows God- and knows how to keep us hooked & panting the next pummeling.
