Timberahue
Literally, one of Croatian brightest stars, Leifert came a long way, originally starting around 2008 as a punk-trio called "Larve" - already with a well-established balance between art and sound. After a couple of impressive, experimental pieces, the trio transformed into a duo and changed their name to "Leifert" - at first Petra and Vida (the latter from the original line-up, who left around 2010), with Bojan Bajić stepping in for the match made in heaven - both music and production-wise. Learning from their earlier experience, Leifert continued to grow artistically, carefully arranging bits to the finest detail. While superficial ears may suggest leanings to a certain X-Mal Deutschland and Malaria, Leifert's proper mentors are actually those coming from their hometown of Rijeka - a place with a vast legacy of alternative legends; in this case, Kaos and Paraf provide a more audible link that helped Leifert shaping their very own music. Their debut album is an eclectic mix in monochromatic yet very atmospheric and expressive fashion - Leifert's audio-visual appearance grabs immediate attention, but it is not just of the moment - the duo are well aware of their sound and vision and are pushing forward with every next attempt.Unwilling to be labeled just as "retro" or "darkwave", Leifert are great representatives of the new generation of youths - curious, enthusiastic and eager to explore and experiment, creating their own blend of alternative music that is very now, but at the same time the music that will continually evolve. Their inspiration comes from a far more diverse list of artists; The Knife, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Talk Talk, Les Rita Mitsouko, even classical music... - while this is not directly evident in their music, it is a fascinating fact they are very open to listen, interact and reward the ear with their labour of love.
