If you are looking for energetic mid-nineties Acid techno, look elsewhere. Unfortunately, this 1995 release is already atrociously minimal-tainted. It is not exactly mnml avant la lettre, as the sounds are definitely analog, and it has some (tamed) Acid in it, yet the whole composition would probably fit in better under the Communiqué banner. As with many of Woody's, this one by Alec Empire suffers from monotonous drum patterns stretched over eight-minute tracks and little variation in the Acid too -- a pity, as it is sometimes quite promising. Not necessarily bad, but rather watered-down and sedated.Weep, on the other hand, is a much more interesting slow, distorted, broken beat affair with a moody synth line that would probably sound great in an industrial set.
