the monster
Must have Mills, loopy, hypnotic, urgent sometimes. Still good today.

A1: Decent loopy detroit techno with a hurried synth loop dominating. [SIX]A2: High pitched and detuned synth loop grates through this influential but difficult piece. [FOUR]B1: Droned loop forces through this stomper of little merit until partially saved by string loop. [FIVE]B2: As good as techno has ever been, right at the beginning. This is what I think of when I imagine Mills not "The Bells". Simply magical. [GOLDTEN]C1: Looped single bell with Mills percusion virtually the only change factor but being Mills still has it's merits. [FIVE]C2: Like C1 without the bell means it's unsalvageable [THREE]D1: Intense Detroit noodling. Volume cutting breakdowns sound more like a mistake than anything else but a real treat and mindblowing stuff at the time. [NINE]D2: More Detroit noodling but substituting the intensity initially for a spacey feel. Lacking now but so futuristic in 1993. [SEVEN]

Like in the drawing you are always making exercises to practice, increase your technique and definy your own way. That's the vibe of this album, like some sketches from one of the techno pioneer's, nothing really new or amazing, but good exercises. Almost all tracks sounds good and with the classic Jeff Mills touch, but they are plain and sounds old compare with the time. There are a lot of better works of this legend.
