generation of new
Which one version is the best in your opinion guys to take on vinyl?

Yla
I’ve read some pretty harsh reviews about White’s latest album, so it is obvious that it will end up to have very mixed reviews. I like what he's achieved here. Sort of new direction for the music, yet still familiar songwriting style: heavy riffs, melodies & touch of blues here and there. The National did the same sort of sound shift on their latest album. Still to be honest, I favour more analog soundscapes.

Wooden Purple Romeo
And somebody told me this was the album of the year. Terrible music, crap songs.

RUsich155
Mike, what's wrong with him sharing his opinion in 'review' section of this website? ...surely that's kind of the point.

Dibei
I'll buy it off of you. $10 okay? Let me know if that's cool.

Arlana
You know what they say about opinions. Hope sharing made you feel better.

Super P
Vinyl exchanged at the store.Moving from 353 to 210 no problems with this one.

Unereel
Someone have some click and pop on the second side?I have the vault and this one.The vault sound so better.

Jox
Brilliant record. Jack's solo stuff is usually mundane and akin to watching paint dry, but this record is boundary pushing. Rock needs a kick in the pants if it wants to stay relevant in the modern music landscape and albums like this will provide that kick.LP itself sounds very good. No noticable cracks or pops and it has solid depth. I can't really complain about the pressing.

Road.to sliver
As someone who has never really cared for White Stripes or Jack White, I absolutely LOVE this album. I'd go so far to call it a masterpiece. It creates its own world, full of imagination of vision, a total joy to get lost in. I bought this LP randomly last night and have fallen in love. I'm not surprised at all that his longtime fans are disappointed with this as its clearly a vast departure from his material up until this point. If, however, you've never been a big fan of his previous work, give this new album a shot. It really is one of the most incredible albums I've ever heard. Never thought I'd hear myself say that about a Jack White album!

Runehammer
I was honestly surprised at some of the fans' reactions. Yes, it's a little bit out there, but to me it sounds like a natural progression from Lazaretto. He's clearly been working towards this with each album.

"If you don't like this...I don't know what to tell you". Perfect statement for those that don't care for this album, and I am one of those people. This album is a mess. The songs are all over the place. It sounds like a collection of crap thrown together for no other reason that just to throw it together. I can appreciate the experimentation but it's just not for me. I hope this was a one time thing.

That's exactly how I personally feel about The Beatles 'White Album'. But 50 years later most still bow down to that wretched mish-mash of throwaway songs clunkily packaged as The Beatles tried to figure out why they were still together. This Jack White album just came out and it needs the chance to breath and develop into something that is not disappointing at first listen to diehard fans expecting more of the same from his first two interchangeable albums. That may never happen, but I think his upcoming tour and live performances will help add some visual context to what he has packaged on this new album. We live in a predominantly visual world with a very low aggregate attention span. Time will tell if the album is a loser or something required from one of the very best creative artists in all of Music today. I still think his best work is yet to come.

Wrathshaper
As someone that has found Jack White's solo work incredibly boring, and am only a casual fan of the White Stripes, I absolutely adore this album. It has its roots in blues rock and the usual sounds White works in, but the production around it and the addition of electronics pushed this into truly bizarre territory. Most of these songs (with obvious exceptions for the spoken word tracks) would've fit perfectly on a White Stripes or solo Jack White album if they were recorded with the usual fuzzy guitars and booming drums, but adding drum machines, synthesizers, raw background singers, and noisy post-production elevated these songs into truly incredible territory. This, the Drones' "Feelin Kinda Free," and David Bowie's "Blackstar" are how rock musicians should integrate electronics into their music. Boarding House Reach is visceral when it needs to be and soulful at other moments, using modern production techniques and electronics to elevate and warp that. More artists should take inspiration from this and ignore the lazy integration of electronics bands like Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy take.I can understand why some of White's more traditional rock-oriented fans would dislike this, as well as those that just think the album sounds like a mess. I think it's a beautiful, creative, and wholly unique cacophony that comes together as one of the best rock albums I've heard all decade. I'd go as far to say as this feels like Jack White trying to be this generation's Frank Zappa, utilizing modern production techniques with older styles of music to create something brand new, all with a level of eccentricity unmatched by his contemporaries.

Damdyagab
He is trying to reach more people with what he creates instead of cranking out more 'Hotel Yorba' songs. Can't fault a special artist for that.

Kanal
I do like this review, which pretty much reflects my own stance on the man, except that I loved the White Stripes. We're over in Dead Weather territory here, and off the wall to the extent that he could have been forgiven for creating another alterego for this facet of his solo career. White has always had a Zappa-type oddballness going on and it really comes out here. It's a diamond with a few flaws, which just don't suit my own tastes. But I can't understand the negativity many of his long-term fans have expressed about it.It's by far his best solo album.

Mr.mclav
It sounds like an old vinyl.

Jugami
Right Martinal ! This is a new Jack White's peak. I think that this album will certainly be a milestone in his carreer, a turning point. There are so many different sounds, expérimentations, the man opened a lot of doors for the next years...The doors of hell for the purists, the doors of heaven for those who believe that the future of music (and humanity) is melting. Instead of staying in the Lazaretto/Blunderbuss path, he decides to go far away. I definitively love Jack, a great musician/composer. Never a follower, always the first to show the way...

BlackBerry
Totally agree with Lerviks, this album is fresh and surprising, and I like it a lot, Jack came up with new stuff, and it was the right time for this move - two previous albums were very much the same, I like them both, but I would not need a third one in the same line. The sound is also very good - wide bottom end and no pops and crackles etc, high quality sleeves etc, pleasure all around.

Grillador
I've red a lot of bad things about this album! Don't really get it, its only a question of an artist developing and becoming more complex and better! Think its the first album where White has showed something else than what one is used to. Really good album. In a way similar critic that happened to John Lennon and even Radiohead when they stared to experiment with their music! In my mind Jacks best album so far!!

zmejka
It's definitely grown on me since I first gave the whole thing a listen - much like the Black Keys "Turn Blue".

Qudanilyr
I think that this album don't come anything near his other solo albums (Blunderbuss & Lazaretto). There are surly some very good tunes here, but too many that are fillers. This is for fans only in my opinion. Many will surly disagree.

Kekinos
NO download code on this. This is very disappointing !

inform
bbark01 Sadly, it's becoming more and more common to not get a download card with new vinyl releases, and more so with reissues. It's disappointing, back before the age of CD players in cars we made tapes, it only makes sense to give us a way to play music on the go, especially with the premium price for vinyl. Sure it's possible to do a needle drop but it's not as simple as downloading a copy. Yeah, as vinyl has become more popular, this is happening and it's unfortunate. Because I almost always buy (new) music that I don't have on vinyl, I really appreciate the MP3's for my phone/laptop. But this trend is not helpful...

Vut
Won't most people listen to this on Spotify or Apple Music...? Like a download code would of been nice, but for me I have the vinyl to listen to at home and I stream it on spotify on the go.

GAMER
The regular (non-vault) Lazaretto also had a Download Card/Code; so yeah, I was expecting that this release would have one as well.

Velan
Actually not quite true, the Lazaretto vault edition had a download code, so we could have expected one here too... I hope the standard version will have one.

EXIBUZYW
Why not just make a rip of it yourself? Then you've got a version that is truly yours, even though it's digital.

Vital Beast
It's been like that since all the vault issues. Get used to it.
