An astounding album. A stark move away from Borges earlier missives under the Pedestrian Deposit moniker, Austere is more concerned with space and melancholy serenity than the strange harsh noise-cum-plundered-recordings aesthetic of albums like Fatale. Shannon Kennedy's addition to the project helps make for a new guise for this project, presenting a work that harkens superficially to many recent drone travelers, but ebbs and flows with a confidence and intent of its own. A mature, fully released masterpiece. A must own!
