A2 was first performed May 22, 1986 at St. Mark's Church, New York. The composer played a pair of 22.5 x 30-inch papers, resonating them singly and together, varying the loudness and duration of the sounds. The present six-paper version was first performed on October 17, 1986 at Crowell Hall at Wesleyan University.
