Wire
Very good band who drew comparisons to the Velvet Underground. They weren't nearly that noisy/beautiful, and they featured a lot more farfisa, but lead guy Bob Pfeifer (future big shot record exec) does do the Lou Reed vocal thing well. This was their only full-length, and the songs are smart takes on relationships.
